Concentration in Spanish, Spanish/International Studies/Business and Spanish Minor

World Languages offers a Concentration and Minor in Spanish and a Concentration in Spanish/International Studies/Business. See Degree Requirements for more information about the courses needed.

The World Languages department offers a broad range of undergraduate courses in Spanish for students at every level from beginning to advanced, including native speakers of Spanish. The Spanish program seeks to promote cultural and linguistic literacy through courses intended to build competency in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Now more than ever Spanish is important in our global and local worlds. In the United States alone there are approximately 35.5 million Spanish speaking households, making it the 2nd largest community of Spanish speakers in the world after Mexico.

Locally, Florida has a large Hispanic population (about 20%), and cities like Tampa, Orlando and Miami concentrate a very rich cultural and historical background. This environment provides unlimited opportunities for students to put into practice their skills as well as to acquire cultural awareness.
