2014

German Day 2014

The German Section of the Department of World Languages celebrated another German Day on Nov. 14, 2014. The special theme of this year’s event was the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Over 150 students studying German at Tampa Bay area high schools and at USF showcased their poster projects and performed in a poetry jam. The Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Jürgen Borsch, and Honorary Consul Norma Henning participated in the festivities, as did the faculty of the German section and several volunteers. Two other events were held in remembrance of this special anniversary: On Nov. 13, 2014 Dr. Will Lehman presented a lecture entitled “The Wall in Film” and on Sept. 23, 2014, there was a film screening of The Lives of Others. All events were sponsored by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Washington, DC.
